Jenny

I am a retired computer systems architect, who began her working life as a high precision machinist.

Having retired and searching for an intersting hobby i remembered the joy i used to get from a well made part during my machine building days. So I have decided to put together a model engineering machine shop for the purpose of building scale steam and petrol engines.

So far i have acquired an Axminster SC2 7x12 lathe and an Axminster SX2 Mill, linisher, sharpening system, and a number of necessary bits and bobs.

I have begun building my first project, a Stothert and Pitt Beam Engine in 1/12th scale.

I am building it from one of their model engineering kits, which is basically a box full of a couple hundred pieces of metal and a few castings. quite an agressive start, but not beyond my capability… I think

here is a link to the model i am making:

Once i have a couple steam engines under my belt i plan on getting a tad more agressive and move into scale model petrol engines.

I am happt to hear from others who share similar intrests. if you write me i will reply in kind.
