I have been making dovetails like that for years, not on purpose mind you, mine was due to a lack of skill and knowledge, its because of that I went to college and then did my apprenticeship. 
They do look nice, especially when making trinket and jewelry boxes, but I don’t think I could or would have the patience to do all my joints like that not when I can do normal dovetails and finger joints in mins with my router.
