Recently commissioned my lathe which has been idle for some years and decided to turn some wood blanks which I had cut from an apple tree in my garden (except the yew eggcup !). Looked online and followed some guidance from Stuart Batty, your own Colwyn, Robert Findley, Steve Jones and set about the applewood. Most Enjoyable !
