The little Festool palm sander (RTS 400 Code: 103072) is a fantastic little machine and naturally enough, is designed to accept only Festool sanding sheets, which is damnably unsporting of them. It will take the similar sized Mirka abrasive sheets, but the ‘grippy’ face of the pad is not sufficiently rough to hold them and as a consequence, they soon wear and fall off. Here’s an easy peasy ‘fix’ so that you can use Mirka sanding sheets.
Simply go down to your local haberdashery store and buy half a mete of wide Velcro strip. Cut some bits to size, punch some holes in it in the appropriate places and use a dollop of contact adhesive to stick them in place.
Works a treat!!
