Red Cedar versus European Oak for Greenhouse

I am planning to build a greenhouse and will copy a reputable commercial product that uses Western Red Cedar (2" x 2" for the verticals and 2" x 3" for the roof members).

I would prefer to use European Oak, as it would match an Oak Pergola already in my garden.

I have never worked with Western Red Cedar but my impression is that Oak is stronger and I can therefore safely use Oak of the same dimensions as the Cedar above. Is this correct?

Also how rot-resistant is Oak compared to Western Red Cedar (we get a lot of rain here in the West of England).

Thanks for any help.

WRC every time. Oak is great and will last a long time; a WRC greenhouse is just about invulnerable to decay.
