What would you guys do here…
This round over bit is just a tad too large for the standard clearance plate(?),what level of crime would I be committing if I were to enlarge the plate with the round over bit?
Trying to avoid having to buy another piece of kit if I can.

No crime at all I would say. I’ve done exactly the same thing myself and the Router Police haven’t called yet 
If I remember correctly I enlarged mine using a Forstner bit.
