On my bench top router table i was trying to connect my festool mini extractor to the 63mm router fence port i got a toilet seal (from the pipe that fills the cistern) and it fits perfectly
I have experienced the same thing over and over again. What can we do to convince the tool manufacturers to adopt a standard extraction port size. Maybe three or four standard sizes. I am constantly making adapters to fit the various tools that I have. I have two routers (Bosch and Makita), one hand planner, a pocket hole jig, an orbital sander, jig saw, scroll saw, belt sander, mitre saw, and table saw. All of these tools have different diameter dust ports. I look for some new hoses and some are shown in ID, some are shown in OD. Some are not very flexible making them a nuisance when used with a router or sander, for example. What can we do to convince the power tool makers to adopt a standard of port sizes?
An issue that has also bothered me for some time. Perhaps now as an independent we are able to define British Standards again we should all petition BSI and Health and Safety to determine a standard and require all tool suppliers to provide an approved fitment for each power tool they market as part of the delivery of all future orders. The powers that be should take note of our concerns and recognise the importance as an improvement in health and safety of UK users of power tools that can create harmful dust or particles.
